Easy Treadmill Basics

There are many reasons why you should consider purchasing a treadmill for sale to use within your own home. Due to the fact that gymnasium expenses grow over the months, you might not constantly be able to frequent the health club, so having your own personal gym at home is the practical choice. One of the first pieces of equipment that should be bought for your home gym is the treadmill. You can jog, walk, and run using a treadmill. Before making your purchase you’ll need to consider what sort of treadmill with what sort of features you need.

If you are in the market for a treadmill that is designed for walking only, then a basic treadmill is really all that is needed. Running and jogging wear out the low cost treadmill much faster and require a much more expensive treadmill to take that burden. However if you plan to use your treadmill extensively for jogging or running, it would be in your best interest to spend a little more and purchase a high quality treadmill with a higher price.

Treadmills have numerous components that can run the gamut from expensive and high quality, to inferior and inexpensive. The motor is the most essential feature in any treadmill. A more powerful, higher quality motor, is a good choice since this will be the part that gets used the most. A treadmill motor without enough power is the one main reason that treadmills wear out before their time, so be sure to buy the best motor you can afford. The motors in treadmills are rated by two measurements: continuous duty horsepower and peak horsepower. While many treadmills may quote their peak horsepower ratings to make them look good in the treadmill reviews, it’s the continuous duty horsepower rating that you should take note of. A high continuous horsepower rating means the machine will last much longer as the motor will have more power.

The belt is also a key component. This is the rubber on which you walk on the treadmill, you’ll want to be sure its of good quality. Although some cheaper treadmills look good on the outside, they are often quite thin, and wear out quickly. You will want to purchase a 2 ply or greater belt, greater if possible, if you want to get the most out of your treadmill. A nice, thick belt will ensure that it doesn’t wear out and need to be replaced for a long time as these belts can be quite expensive.

You don’t need to spend a fortune to get a decent quality treadmill, but spend just a few hundred dollars more may result in a much better quality machine. Make sure to set a standard for your budget before you start research and if you find a great treadmill that at a certain price I recommend moving the numbers around because you don’t want to be stuck with a low quality machine.
