Building Muscle and Losing Fat

Losing belly fat and bodybuilding has always been a topic discussed at length. One point of view advocates that you cannot get ripped abs fast because the energy and the excess calories needed to increase muscle gain prevents you from losing fat and then the other view says you can do both, but it is not very effective. There is a way however to get ripped while gaining new muscle by appropriate training to increase metabolism so that fat burning occurs due to an increase in metabolic rate, rather than caloric deprivation. A workout routine that includes exercises that allow maximum muscle stimulation and metabolic stimulation are what is needed to burn fat, and get abs. You cannot go to the gym and do exercises that isolate muscle groups, as with many bodybuilding programs and expect to achieve these results. For example, when you perform a bench press you work more muscles in the upper body, but none of the big stabilizing muscles in the body.

How to Get Ripped Abs whilst working the chest:

Instead of performing bench presses you can do dumbbell presses on a single exercise ball. The weight used is very light, but the major stabilization occurs in the thighs and the abs to stabilize the body to do the one arm dumbbell press. It may not be the best exercise for the development of Herculian chest muscles but you will get ripped and still build muscle.

Another great exercise to work the upper body and increase the metabolic burden you can do push-ups with feet elevated on a bench or Swiss ball. Once again, the amount of core stabilizers involved will burn more calories. You will be amazed that whilst training your body fat will melt away without having to make drastic changes to your diet.

Nutrition is a key factor in building muscle:

With the natural increase in metabolic rate through exercise, while stimulating muscle growth, it is essential to have your nutrition under control. To maintain a raised metabolism you must eat 5 or 6 times a day. Not only will this help your body flood with enzymes to burn fat, but the protein in your meals will aid recovery of the muscles that will lead to growth.

It is not necessary to eat large amounts of protein for muscle growth and indeed new science has shown us that it is the time of ingesting the protein that is essential for growth. Take a drink of easily digestible whey protein before exercise and immediately after your workout to increase muscle mass while getting ripped abs.
